Microsoft Windows Search Indexer has encountered a problem

WinXP Home, HP Pavilion 7650, Office 2007 Pro, IE 6 (uninstalled 7 so I could
identify Office 2007 bugs --if any !?!?)

Now getting multiple "Microsoft Windows Search Indexer has encountered a
problem" errors. Tried disabling service--is it Indexing Service or Windows
Search that is causing the problem--or something else? Suggestions?

Are you using Windows Desktop Search?

Not "using"--it came with Office 2007, I think.
Is there any way to "fix" it, or just uninstall it? (I teach apps, and I
hate to dump out without trying to make it work--someone else will certainly
have a similar problem that I'll end up trying to help solve...)

Sorry I haven't come across this one before.
