Kay

Hello there,

I have a win98 laptop and I use Outlook Express for my
email. I recently setup an identity for my email account
with a password.
I am trying to open Outlook Express now and an 'Identity
Login' window appears for me to enter my password.
Unfortunately, I can't remember my password and so I
can't open Outlook Express to have access to my email
account.
I have tried to click on the 'Log Off Identity'
and 'Manage Identities' buttons to try and disable the
Identity Login prompt but unfortunately this doesn't
help. I am very frustrated and need your help out there.
Please tell me how I can disable or cancel the identity
so that I can open Outlook Express and have access to my
email. I don't want to re-install Outlook Express because
I will lose all the email data.

PLEASE HELP.

Hi Steve,

Thanks for the info. I tried going to the newsgroup that
you recommended but couldn't. It seems that there might be
an error in the URL:
(microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress)
Could you please check if it's correct?

Thanks

That's not a URL, Kay, it's the name of the news group, which is on
news server msnews.microsoft.com.

Here's a URL that you can click to get to the news group using your
default news reader program (Outlook Express, Agent, etc):

news://msnews.microsoft.com/microsoft.public.windows.inetexplorer.ie6_outlookexpress

If you'd rather use the web-based news reader, go to this URL:

http://support.microsoft.com/newsgroups/default.aspx

In the left column, click Windows | Internet Technologies | Internet
Explorer 6.0 | Outlook Express.

I strongly recommend using a news reader program rather than the
web-based news reader. It's very hard to find replies to your
messages if you use the web-based news reader.

Please post any reply as a follow-up message in the news group
for everyone to see. I'm sorry, but I don't answer questions
addressed directly to me in E-mail or news groups.
