how to disable file explorer folder list auto expanding?

Hello,

Windows XP Explorer.
When folder list is open on the left and folder contents on the right.
Selecting folder on left pane automatically expands left pane subfolders and
closes when opening the next folder .
That's without clicking to + or - signs in the left of folder name.

Can anyone suggest how to get rid of this annoying folder list unwanted
expanding on the left pane folder list?

When there is a lot of subfolders, then the next folder is shifted down out
of view and as a result there is a lot of unnecessary scrolling up and down
that doesn't make much of sense, as the folder content is already visible on
the right .

Thanks in advance.

Go to Control Panel and double click Folder Options.
In Folder Options, click on the View tab.
In the Advanced Settings box, remove the check mark from the
box next to "Display simple folder view in Explorer's Folders
list".
Click OK.
Open Windows Explorer and see if you've got the results your
looking for.

Good luck

Thanks,

The previous hints where what I expected from Explorer folders.

But unfortunately only half of the remedy. Perhaps there is some way to trim
even further?

Is there also a setting, how to set Explorer left folder pane not to expand
automatically, when I drag another folder from left pane into it?
That is I move another folder into it.
It's annoying to close this automatically expanding folder, with many
subfolders, each time to make again other folders below visible.

If not easily, then perhaps there is a registry hack or something?

Thanks in advance.
