Open Windows Explorer and right-click on the CD drive. Choose
PROPERTIES|AUTO PLAY tab
and see if the choice that you want is there.

Hi,

Hold the <shift> key down when you insert the CD.

Or, access the autoplay settings by right-clicking the drive in Windows
Explorer and selecting properties. Change your settings here.

Right click the icon for the drive and select Properties. On the AutoPlay
tab, select the desired action for each media type in the drop down list.

You might also consider using TweakUI to disable autoplay completely. I
have two drives capable of reading CDs and use this tool to disable one but
leave the other setup for Autoplay. Find this arrangement to be very
handy. TweakUI is one of the Power toys for XP available here:

My Computer - r-click the drive, Properties - Autoplay. for each type
(and especially 'Mixed content') Select 'Action, to be performed',
highlight the one you want (maybe 'No Action') and click Apply. Next
time you put in a CD, you may have to repeat, checking the 'always do
this' - this seems needed before things are convinced you mean it.

Note that you should not turn off for blanks disks if you have a CD
Burner, nor, if you also use the inbuilt CD burning for Mixed content.
If that is not set for 'open in explorer' it will not be possible to
have such a CD open, to allow you to add to it.
