How to default to shutdown?

Any way to force Win XP home to default to shutdown in the "start, click shut down, window," which
presently defaults to hibernate? This system does not hibernate well and when the kids use it it
invariably get hung in hibernate instead of shutting down.

Disable hibernation?

Control Panel > Power Options > Hibernate tab > remove the checkmark.

In Control Panel|Power Option|Advanced, you can set the computer to "Shut
Down" when you push the Power Button, so you don't have to hit Start|Turn
Off Computer.

Does that help?
