I am still trouble-shooting a problem where I can no longer offer Remote
Assistance to my out-of-town children's computers, which I believe arose
after I replaced the original hard drive of my XP Home computer, and
restored the OS partition from the original using DriveImage 2002. This
apparently created a new SID, which is responsible for the "There is a
problem with the invitation..." message I now receive when trying to open up
a RA session. This used to work just fine with several other computers, all
running XP Home.
I came across this MSKB Article:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/555385
This seems to identify my situation, and recommends, as a work around,
creating a Group Policy Object, and adding a script entry to run
"sessmgr.exe -service". The problem is that since my system is XP Home, so
far I've been unable to find a way to do this. (I've also seen the
suggestion to just run this in Safe Mode, which I've tried, but no change in
the problem.)
Can anybody tell me if, and how, I can create such a Group Policy Object on
my XP Home system, and if there are any reasons this would be inadvisable??
Thanks.
