Ok, so i've also run the XP backup utility which has created a large backup
file.

I now want to perform a clean install of Windows, which involves wiping
everything on my hard drive so I want to copy the large backup file onto CD.

Problem is the file is too big to fit on a single CD. Is there a way to
record the large backup file onto mutiple CDs?

Dear musdavis:

This newsgroup is for questions about Microsoft Access, the database
management program. The name of the newsgroup may have misled you to think
it was a newsgroup for "public access" to Microsoft.

Try one of the Windows XP newsgroups, perhaps:

microsoft.public.windowsxp.basics
microsoft.public.windowsxp.general

Good Luck!

Use WinZip to compact your backup file. This probably won’t significantly
reduce the size on disk, but WinZip will let you split a zip file into
user-specified (e.g., 645 MB) segments, each of which can be saved to a
separate CD.

When you’re ready to restore these, copy them from each CD to the same
folder and open the main file (will have a .zip extension, not .z01, .z02
etc) as normal. Your Windows backup file can then be extracted to wherever
you want.
