How to copy from 2003 excel and paste into an access find field

I can't copy a cell from excel 2003 and paste it into an access 2003 find
field. I do a edit, find in access, but when I right click on the "find
what" with my mouse, a message comes up "what's this". I am able to paste
into the find what field if I do control v.
 
The only time I get the "what's this" is if my cursor is not positioned in
theblank white area of the field. Where is your cursor when this happens?
 
It is in the white area. Everyone in the office is having the same problem.
