How to configure WINS server run on specific IP address

Hi,

I have one Windows 2000 server have 3 network card, multi-homed router,
SP4, latest security patches. The WINS server keeps running on the one IP
address
on the server (third network adapter) that I do not want it to be running.

How do I change the IP address listening on the WINS server? (to make the
WINS
server run on specific IP address as I wanted to)

Thanks,
J.H

I believe WINS simply binds to the first adapter listed in the Adapters and
Bindings setting. You might want to look at:
http://www.petri.co.il/change_the_binding_order_in_windows_2000.htm

You can chance the order of the binding so that the adapter you want WINS to
work off of is listed first. I could be WAY wrong on this one so you may
want to wait to get feedback from some other folks first.

If this works and is the case, please confirm it with a reply back to the
newsgroup!

Hi Ed,

That's RIGHT!! :) It works. It's not just like the DHCP that we can bind
what
Interface it can be serving the DHCP request. With WINS, it's true we can
change
the binding order on the top option of Advanced Setting and then click OK. I
don't
experience any problem after that. Click on WINS, it runs on the
wanted-interface
as I sort in order

Thanks Ed, that is helpful,

J.H
