How to clear Follow-up Flags?

I have a few Opportunities, Business Contacts flagged for follow-up. Now, I
can't get rid of them in my To-do Bar even though I've marked them Completed.
What shall I do?

I find the same thing on my e-mails with "Completed" follow-up flag. They
remains on the To-Do Bar after being marked completed.

Is "Clear Flag" the only way to clear them off the To-Do Bar? I will admit
that I am not a frequent To-Do Bar user, and I would like to hear from the
community on how you guys get this done... :)
