how to check the clients

hello,
after some experimenting<, I seem to be getting results.
and that is favourable.
but how do I keep track of the status of various clients ?
say, I have 100 clients, with Win2K,SP2+wuau22.msi or Win2K,SP4
both types of clients would be able to use SUS.
but how can I see if a specific client is updated completely ?
there is a susreport tool, that inspects the log-files of ISS on the
sus-server.
but I would like to be able to inspect the clients, in more or less the same
way the update service is doing.
any suggestions ?
thnks

My question exactly. I know that I have just implemented the Logging method
described in the Deployment Guide but I won't have results until Friday (just
implemented in test environment).

One other question.. don't know if it's been answered yet but.....according to
what I've been reading and have seen, the updates will download WITHOUT Admin
access but will NOT install until an Admin has logged on.. is this correct?
Would make sence if the local user doesn't have install priviledges (Power
User). Seems to me that if the User was a Power User then the install should
happen when the User logs on (depending of course on how the Update options were
set.)

I have setup a test situation with 1 PC Win2k,SP2 + wuau22.msi
and a 2nd pc with Win2k,SP4
the first one has downloaded and installed SP4 without any assistance
the only thing required was a reboot at the end
apparently, the update-installs are done with some sort of elevated
privilege
thnks
