You can reassign non-system, non-boot partition drive letters in Disk
Management
Start|Run|diskmgmt.msc

While logged on with an account in the administrator group, right click My
Computer and select Manage. On the screen that appears, click on Disk
Management in the left column. The right hand portion of the screen will
change showing a graphical representation of your drives and partitions.

In the graphical area, right click on the representation of a drive (or
partition) and choose Change Drive Letter and Paths. A new screen will
appear, click the Change button. Select the letter that you want and OK the
change. There will be a warning regarding changing letters, OK that too.

Suggest changing the letter for the cdrom drive first to free up D: then
change the letter for the partition.
