How to block sender - newsgroups

Using windows Mail to read USENET it seems the "Block Sender" feature is
missing from the "Message" menu.

Please tell me MS has not taken away the ability to block posts from people
who pollute USENET!

Thanks,

You now have to create a rule - it works, it just sucks. Oh, and then APPLY
the rule to the existing folder...

Really, Windows Mail looks like crippleware, designed to suck just enough to
get you to want to go schlep out for Outlook 2007.

I have Outlook 2007 (it was a gift for attending a launch event).... does
it do USENET newsgroups now????

Just looked at the rule creation. What a piece of crap! I have to add the
bad guy I want to block to my contacts first? Come on, this bites.

MS is giving us more and more reason to hate Vista.

Nope, you still get to use Windows Mail for that...

You know, I'm in the tech field and it takes some doing to explain why I
kept using OE for Mail and News, and my argument to them was, it just works,
well. Well, not so much anymore...

You don't have to add them to contacts...highlight the message from the
sender you want to can, select Create Message from Rule, and then fill in
the rest...

Still sucks, though.

You don't need to create a rule. Just do:
Message, Junk E-mail, Add Sender to Blocked Sender List.

You don't have to use WinMail for NNTP. I read that Thunderbird works in
Vista.

seems to me under the MESSAGE tab at the top there are options to use for this purpose just as there was in xp.

Does this work in Newsgroups? A little counter-intuitive to head into the
Junk E-Mail when working in Usenet, but if it works...

Venger,

Yes works in newsgroups, it is what I use to get rid of all the trolls and
flamers (getting quite a list !).
Also, yes it is not all that obvious that that is where the option went, I
can see the rational - it is junk mail - but took me a while to find it.

Yeah, what is really still missing is the ability to add the block sender
and it promoted you to remove all messages from the sender. So if someone
posts 200 messages a day of filth they could all be removed quite easily.
