how to backup to multiple cds with winxp

Hello, I have winxp with the backup utility. It saves my backup obviously
onto the pc. The thing is, it is 3 gb or more and I don't have a dvd burner
or player on the pc. Is there any way to put a backup onto multiple disks
(cd's that are 700 mb) ? Also, I only have 56k connection and to redownload
the updates alone is more than time consuming, let alone any other program's
updates. Is there any way to backup windows updates alone, both critical and
optional? Whew! thanks for any help on this. ( note: I do have a
sony cd burner on the pc but no good free or cheap cd burning software.)

Hi Paul,

http://www.cdrfaq.org/faq03.html#S3-59 covers disk spanning. You will need
to use something other than the internal burning engine for this. As to the
Windows Update files, unless you have already downloaded the stand-alone
form, you will need to redownload them. When you go to the update site, use
the catalog option. This will allow you to download them. Service Pack2
contains all critical updates to date, so downloading it will cover most of
what you need.

It's a whopper at 266MB.

Even using a third party burning program allowing UDF writing to the
CDRW, it's still not possible to span multiple CDR(W)s using the MS
NTBackup program. A third party PROGRAM must be used to enable
spanning.
