I need to back up all my filles and application in my win xp machine before
upgrading the motherboard and CPU. My problem is this machine won't boot
anymore suspect that the mother board is not working. Try change power supply
and memory but seems no avail. My question is Can I back up my hard drive to
some other machine? How to do it? Please thanks for any help..

Take the hard drive out of the problem machine and put it in
another XP or system as a slave drive. Make sure you have the
jumpers on the rear of the drive set correctly. Look for a
diagram on the top of the hard drives to see what the jumper
settings should be.

Once you've got the hard drives setup, start the second
computer. Hopefully, the drive will be recognized and be
visible in Windows Explorer. Odds are that the slave drive was
formatted NTFS. That will mean you're going to have to take
ownership of the files on the old drive. Take a look here for
the procedure:

How to take ownership of a file or folder in Windows XP

Note: If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you
must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an
account that has Administrative rights to have access to the
Security tab. To start in Safe Mode, reboot your computer and
start tapping the F8 key as soon as you see anything displayed
on the screen. Keep hitting F8 until the Advanced Startup
Options menu appears. Use the up and down arrow keys on your
keyboard to select Safe Mode. Hit Enter.

You should now be able to recover your data files. Keep in mind
that when you put the old drive back in with the new
motherboard you're probably going to have to perform a repair
installation. Take a look here for the procedure:

You can not back up applications. You must install applications anew.

To backup your personal files, connect the drive physically to the second
computer using the correct drive jumper (master or slave) and IDE port (IDE1
or IDE2). Then just copy the files to the second computer.

Make certain that your second computer has up-to-date antivirus installed
before you start doing this.

are you sure it's the motherboard/CPU?

Have you tried to repair install or clean install Windows?

Have you tried booting from XP disk or an AntiVirus disk?
Whole prob could be the hard drive. Or lots of other things.
