how to add more sound files into slides

I have around 50 slides and 5 songs. I want to add one song for 10 slides
each. I put the first song on the first slide and end it on slide 10. Then I
placed the 2nd song to slide 11 and ends it at slide 20. When I tried to play
the presentation., the first song song ended but the second song did not
start to play when slide 11 displayed. Any suggestions on what settings to
configure?
thanks for the time to look at my request....

Jay,
Have you tried placing the sound in the appropriate slides in the slide
transition. That generally works. On condition that it is a wave sound and
not another type.
Also read this, particularly the section on multiple music files Add more
than one sound...

Hi Luc,

I've got a a somewhat different problem-- I replaced my laptop with a new
one. Both have XP Pro- both have the same PPT 2003 program installed from
the same disks. PPT worked perfectly on the old computer to create slide
shows and inserting wav sound files from the D partition. Also worked
perfectly in viewing and listening to sound on PPS shows sent to me on a
weekly basis. However, on the new computer, I can't hear the sound from the
weekly emails, and can only hear the default sound effects (camera click,
wind, etc) after insertion into my own PPS. Tried experimenting with
Windows media and Windows media classic to play back the wav sounds on the D
partition- they worked perfectly. Any ideas??

Thanks!
JDW

Just a guess here, but it almost sounds (no pun intended) as though the
sounds you can't hear are "linked" sounds and the link is broken because the
folder structure isn't the same. Were all sound files in the same folder as
your PowerPoint file BEFORE you inserted them? If not, try that. Read the
below link for more info:

Are these sounds from a CD? If so the trick is to set the first "stop
playing" to (at least) the TOTAL number of slides (not as you might think 11)

Bill,
All the wav sounds are located in the same folder. Tried moving the entire
folder over to the C drive but to no avail. Also, am still unable to hear
ANY sounds from the weekly PPS sent to me on the new laptop- old laptop
plays them perfectly. Help!!

Check your sound file embedding setting and raise it if necessary (Tools,
Options, General TAB). Your old laptop might have been set to embed larger
files and the other wav files aren't even with the presentation. A shot in
the dark, but worth checking.

Setting is at 50000 - received another PPS today with three separate songs -
only 1st one played on the new laptop.

After creating a new photo album of slides, I go to the 1st slide, right
click to get to 'slide transition,' then on sound, then on 'other sound,'
then browse over to my wav music folder on the D drive, and click on a wav
song. Worked perfectly on my previous laptop with same XP Pro + PPT 2003.
Also, now cannot hear sounds on weekly mailings I receive of ppt slide shows
which I could do in the past. Any help much appreciated!

Thanks,
JDW
