Probably a dumb request:

I will be adding another 512 MB of RAM (I have 512 MB now) and replacing
my CD burner with a DVD burner, and am wondering how this adds up in the
total "points" toward reregistering.

I know there are sites on the Internet that explain how modifications
add up "points" and what it takes to require reregistering XP Pro, but I
can't find the URL.

Probably worded wrong, but I hope you understand.

Thanks

Upgrading RAM is one point. The CD/DVD burner shouldn't affect you. Re-activation probably won't be required.

First, note that the issue is with re-*activating*, not reregistering.
Registration is always completely optional and is basically used for
marketing purposes by Microsoft; it's activation that's required.

Second, for the details, read this article by the late MVP, Alex Nichol:
"Windows Product Activation (WPA) on Windows XP" at

Good information, thank you...
