What should I change?

I've rebuilt and repaired many old systems, but this will be my first new
build from scratch. It will not be for gaming, but for photo editing and
office productivity stuff, plus some programming if I decide to get back
into it.

Any suggestions for changes? Any incompatibilities I might have missed?

The first questions I have regard my choice of RAM:

Crucial is not on the Gigabyte compatibility list. Does anyone know
what the issue may be, if any?

Do I need to go better than PC2-8500 for the 1333 MHz FSB of the 6850?

Gigabyte P35 DS4 Rev 2 MoBo
Core 2 Duo 6850, box stock cooling
2 GB Crucial Ballistic PC2-8500 DDR2
Lian Li PC60 Plus II
Antec Earthwatts EA500
WD Raptor 150
Lite-On LH-20A1L-06 DVD Burner
Scythe YD-8V08-BK card reader/FDD
HIS Hitech X1950 Pro 512 MB Gfx
Samsung 244T LCD Monitor
Microsoft BX1-0005 Keyboard
Kensington Expert Mouse
Creative T3100 2.1 Speakers
MS XP Pro

All from Newegg except the monitor. Total cost about $2200

There is no mention in the BIOS releases shown here, for something special
for the E6850. So I presume the BIOS that ships in the board is good enough.
(If a BIOS chip is socketed, you can change out the chip, and use a service
like badflash.com, to update the BIOS. If the BIOS chip is soldered to the
motherboard, buying and using a cheap Celeron LGA775, to boot into DOS and
flash the board, would be the other option.)

For the power supply, read the reviews on Newegg, to get some idea of what
to expect.

In the past, there may have been issues with Micron D9 RAM. That might
be why Crucial is not on the list (Crucial is part of Micron, so their
sticks are likely to use Micron silicon). There is a passing reference to D9
here.

Otherwise, that looks like a worthy list of components. Enjoy :)

If you are serious about getting back into programming, I suggest
either a dedicated machine for it. Or, make a separate partition big
enough to hold your programming environment: OS, Program Development
Software, and test area. Testing on your Production area is asking for
disaster.

I knew someone who didn't isolate their testing area and they wiped out
their entire hard drive.

Dual monitors? I've heard it's good for programming/debugging, and you
can use lots of screen space for photo editing work?
