How Many WGAs are Enough?

Very quickly I should think - perhaps a 'handle' less obvious might have
given you a chance.
I have seen you have been busy already - and Old Grumpy is in there as
well???
Some are clipped/censored - and they trim.clip their replies, suggesting
that remarks 'did not have any substance to original comments'
I hope they are paying Mr Liu a good wack - he certainly is earning it.

I tried to sign in just now and got the following:

"Your user acount [sic] has been banned. Visit here for more info."

"More info" was a page to "contact MS".

Funny, the web site is titled Feedback and Comments. What a lying joke!

What, exactly, did you write that caused them to ban you this time,
Alias?

Seriously.

I see what you post. Actually, I've got all your posts highlighted so I
don't miss any. So I know that you don't write things that should be
subject to censorship.

I don't know where Microsoft got the idea that the way to do business is
to gag its customer, but it sure winds me up all over again.

Good grief!

I read most of yours, too ;-)

I was banned from this very news group for awhile but I got back on
"with a little help from my friends".

I didn't post much. I said a lot less than I say here, none of it broke
the "terms of usage" by any stretch of the imagination, especially when
compared to other posts there. Some of my posts are still there,
although some of them have been censored. I suspect that a certain
someone who posts there a lot was responsible, either directly or
indirectly.

Well, here's all I have to say about that:

I don't ordinarily make use of my killfile, because I prefer to exercise
a little self-control, i.e., if I don't want to read a post, I don't
click on it.

In his case, I made an exception. I found no redeeming virtue in what he
posts, so I flushed him. Makes for a much nicer group, if I do say so
myself.

I did warn you - wrong 'handle' - I wonder if you were the first to be
removed?
It must have been quite 'ripe' whatever you posted.
I quite liked what I have been able to read so far - must get back and read
the others before the 'blue pencil' is used again.
Yes, they were there as well, with the same old answers - but not much use
of the cut/paste technique we are used to seeing here.
Anyone know if there have been any 'real' critical/priority updates in the
last few days.

It would be a very useful service if someone who has been assimilated
by the Borg let the few remaining un-assimilated ones know if there
are any truly critical updates. I have only d/l'ed the WGA
Validation Tool (KB892130), and not any of the "Notification" ones
(which, BTW, confirmed that I do have a "genuine" installation). When
I manually go to WU now, it only shows one critical update --
WGA Notification.
I suppose I can just wait for patch Tuesday and see what happens, but
it would be nice to know ...

Each month I add the direct download links to all the critical security
updates.

I would just like to know *HOW* the WGA update could *EVER* be considered a
critical update? It does *NOTHING* for the user, except leave them open to
harassment.

I wasn't referring to Leythos ;-)

<laughing> You're terrible!

And that's why I like you so much. :)

I also like Leythos, for different reasons. He's a good guy. He sees the
world in a way that I do not--and never will--but once I figured out
that he was not coming from "stubborn refusal to address the issue," it
no longer mattered. There is no evil intent in the way he debates, even
if his style of argument is the sort that drives me totally insane.

That other person, on the other hand, is about the most selfish and
egocentric person I've ever run across on a newsgroup. His posting here
isn't about helping others, it's about self-aggrandizement, even though
he has made some glaring errors when instructing others. There have been
a couple of times when I've wondered if he has a learning
disability--failure to comprehend what he reads--but I now think it's
purely a lack of care, which is inexcusable.

My understanding of the MVP program is that it is intended to reward
both knowledge and willingness to assist, and I'm not seeing much of
either one from him.

So now, as far as I'm concerned, he's dead...except of course, when you
or Kurt give him the thrashing he so richly deserves.

My favorite advice from him always begins with "You need to purchase a
full version of XP".

Oh that person - the one set on 'auto-reply' - I had assumed it was
another - whoops, nearly opened mouth before engaging brain.
