How do you uninstall, or "Roll-Back" a pre-installed Service Pack ?

R

RM

We just installed a brand new Dell Power Edge 6650 as
primary domain controller on our network, and it came pre-
installed with SP4. The original intent was to make this
our accounting server, but "TIMBERLINE OFFICE" doesn't
support SP4. SP4 isn't listed in Add-Remove programs
either. If this isn't possible then we just wasted
$15K...

,Please HELP !!!

Hello RM,

There isn't a way to 'rollback' the service pack in the sense that you are
looking for. Since the service pack was slipstreamed, we have nothing to
rollback to.

However, if you were to upgrade Windows 2000 over the top of itself, this
time using a non-slipstreamed copy of Windows, you will take the files back
to the older versions. And since this is an upgrade, all of your
applications should be intact (unless they rely on updates that were
provided in the service pack).

At that point, then you can install whatever service pack you want and you
will have to reinstall your security updates as well.
