How do you stop Paint from Resizing?

How do you stop Paint from automatically resizing the canvas in Windows XP?
In Windows 98SE, I could easily capture screenshots and maneuver the desired
portion into a canvas size of my own choosing. But in Windows XP, Paint
automatically resizes the canvas whenever I paste any image larger than the
canvas. This is very annoying. Paint didn’t do this in Windows 98 Second
Edition--instead a message box appeared, asking if I wanted the canvas made
larger. Two keystrokes was all it took to say no. How do I make Windows XP do
this?

If i were you, i would paste the screenshot into paint, then select the part
you want to keep with the select tool. press CTRL+C and paste it into
another, new image file

You weren't reading my post very carefully. There are many benefits to
constantly keeping Paint's canvas the same size: speed, control, manipulation
of images. I've already been doing what you suggested above--that is what is
very annoying: it's time-consuming and it doesn't work very well, especially
when I'm trying to work with several screenshots at a rapid pace. I need the
Paint accessory to work the same way it did in Windows 98 Second Edition.

Sorry i can't help you there, i myself can only reset the canvas size after
pasting it and that would probably not serve the purpose. : \
