How do you stop a folder or drive from being recognized
as a picture folder or a music folder etc. I have the
way to do it as a folder, but not for the drive. Any
help is appreciated.

You may have set the drive as corresponding to the 'logical' special
folders: My Pictures, My Music, or whatever. Use TweakUI - one of the
XP Powertoys from (if you have installed XP SP1)
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/pro/downloads/powertoys.asp

If you have not installed SP!, the earlier version can be found at
http://download.microsoft.com/download/whistler/Install/2/WXP/EN-US/TweakUiPowertoySetup.exe

Once installed you will find it in Start - All Programs - Powertoys for
Windows XP

Its My Computer - Special folders page allows you to select such items
and point them to any folder you like - if these are pointing to the
root of the drive, I'd move them to some appropriate (existing) folder;
a different one for each
