On my older Abit I keep taping the F8 key (abit with win xp SP1)

I built a New one and here is what I have:
Asus A8V Deluxe Raid is not running, but using SATA Drives.
512K on each channel (Blue Slots).
AMD 3500
WinXP SP2 and there New Debugger (Slows down starting up).

If I keep taping the F8 or F 10 key, the it almost aways brings up the Menu
that askes me which drive I want to boot from, and Darn I want to get it to
the menu asking Normal, Safe Mode etc.

Can you help ?

Boot normal then Start, Run, MSCONFIG, set safeboot in "BOOT.INI", then
restart the PC.

Tha's good, thanks, But !

If I have troubles starting up and can't get into windows, is there a way ?

You could try creating a Boot Menu Delay using TweakUi.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/downloads/powertoys/xppowertoys.mspx

If Windows won't boot you place a Boot Disk in the floppy drive and then
power on.

Hope this helps.

Joe:
Instead of tapping on the F8 key during bootup, hold down that key as you
begin the bootup.

Keep trying - after you choose the boot drive, start hitting F8 again.
Windows should show you the boot menu.

You are doing it too early. Must be after any BIOS display as it goes
to black, and before the Windows 'flying window' splash appears

Thanks Everyone

The answer for my New Bios and the ASUS A8V Deluxe was tuse the F 5 key,
what a switch from what we were used to.

Restart and hold down F8 key while it is starting.
Select from the menu.
