safe mode

When I press F8 during bootup I get a screen to select my boot device. How
do I get the screen where I can select to start in safe mode?

My mobo is the Asus P5W DH.

You need to press F8 again.
You'll see the instructions at the bottom of the page.

I think what Eddie is doing is pressing F8 too soon, as he is not seeing the
choose your Operating Screen he is seeing his boot device menu. Eddie wait
until the ASUS splash screen has gone by and then tap F8 repeatedly. If you
can't get it to work then in the Boot device screen choose your hard drive
then begin tapping F8 again. Good Luck,
