I want to be able to use it for the insert slide option. Unfortunately that
one slide is part of a presentation with 124 slides. How do I just save
one?

Thanks

Hi Alanna

If you drag the slide onto your desktop it makes a scrap file which you can
double click on & it opens in PowerPoint. I have a nasty feeling this doesn't
work for 2007 though... Alternatively save a copy of the presentation &
delete all the other slides.

Method 1:
You can manually save the whole presentation.
In windows copy the PPT file
Open the copy and delete everything before and after the slide you want.

Method 2:
Click on the slide in PowerPoint and drag it onto your desktop
Close the presentation and open the Scrap file created during the drag.
Save as a new PPT file

Method 3:
Use my (I think Shyam has one also) add-in that (among other things) allows
the easy saving of selected slide.

I'm using 2003. I'll try the scrap thing next time. For this time, I
opened a new presentation - loaded the background template and then paste &
copied the slide from the existing presentation. That seemed to do the
trick. I just thought there might be an easier way to do it....

Thanks for the response.

As the others said you can delete all the other slides. The easiest way (make
sure you are working on a copy to avoid disasters) is to use slide sorter
view >Ctrl A and then ctrl click the slide you want > press delete

Excellent suggestion about doing it in slide sorter view. I probably
wouldn't have done that....thanks.
