How do you reduce the size of PowerPoint file sent to Word?

When I send a PowerPoint file to Word the file size gets enormous. How do I
reduce this down to a manageable size?

It sound like you're embedding the slides as slides, which will also embed
parts of the entire Powerpoint application.

Try copying each slide, then using Edit/Paste Special to insert it as a static
picture. That should reduce the file size.
