how do you override password

Hi

my dad has windows 2000 and when he went to log on he
forgot his password, he tried several ones and he can not
get logged on, he even tried administrator for log on and
admin for password. Is there a way for him to get onto his
computer by overriding this

Although I am not 100% this is a true case of password neglect or not, since

thanks for your help, it won't help him as he is not able
to get onto his computer to sign on to the net and I am
1500 miles away from him.

I was hoping someway of him getting into the safe mode to
do something, but what I have researched have not been
able to come up with anything.

He has no friends that could download and make the diskette for him as well
as print the instructions?

he forgot to write down his password, as this is the
computer he uses in florida when he goes there for 5
months out of the year, and as he has not been on it for a
few months and his age doesn't help him if he doesn't
write it down... you know what I mean.

thanks for your help, I will make a copy of this and when
I go to visit him in a few wks I will bring it with me and
see what I can do.
