How do you change a thumnail in Document Imaging?

I've been trying for a few days to find a way to change a thumbnail in the
program. However, my efforts have so far been futile. All I want to do is
include a small portion of the picture, not the entire thing.

Thumbnails are very small images, you usually will be disappointed in
the quality if you try to enlarge them, especially if you only want a small
part. However ...
