How do re-lock a document?

My colleague is having issues with a word document. It was initally locked,
she unlocked it, and now it refuses to lock up. I go into outline view,
select the whole document & the The lock button is greyed out.

Any suggestions?

I have some questions about your question. First, when you say it was
"locked," what do you mean? Was it protected? At what level? Or was it locked
with a password?

Second, why are you selecting the document in outline view to attempt to
re-"lock" it? Can't you just put your cursor in the document someplace and
choose "Protect Document"?

Finally, which version of Word are you using -- 2003, 2007, or another
version?
