My son put a vb script on my computer and now the version and build
information comes on the screen. how can I change the registry to undo this?

Download TweakUI free from Microsoft from here:-

When you instal and run it, click on "General" then scroll to bottom
of list and untick the option:-

Show windows version on desktop

185. Remove Desktop Version from Desktop

desktopversion.reg is the file you want.
