How do i turn ON the virus protection

I got a message from the security center, did the updates.... Now i can't
turn the virus protection back on, it stays highlighted in red.

No anti virus comes with or is a part of Windows.
The Security Center simply monitors whatever anti virus you have installed.
Make sure you have anti virus software installed.
Keep it up to date.
If Security Center does not recognize it, contact the anti virus
manufacturer and verify their version is supported by Windows XP and
monitored by the Security Center.
