How do I turn off the popup which shows the incoming email?

I have the windows messenger function turned off in XP but when I get an
incoming mail message it still opens up a messenger like window telling the
email in the lower right corner. How do I turn this thing off? It is
driving me nuts. I am using XP Pro with Office 2003. This problem s with
Outlook.

Tools> Options> E-mail Options> Advanced E-mail Options
Un-check "Display a New Mail Desktop Alert."
