How do I turn off SearchIndexing?

Hello,

I believe it is called the Windows Search service in the services pane.

I wouldn't see why you would turn it off. Many new parts of Vista use an
automatic low priority mode, meaning they kick back and let you do what you
gotta do and work very slowly. Also, Search Indexer does not index your
entire PC in Vista, only a couple of user folders:

-Outlook emails (if you have them)
-Offline Files
-Start Menu
-Users, exclude Default

You can add to these. This thing works GREAT with winamp.

If I have understood your question correctly, then all you do is:

(1) Open the "Indexing Options" applet in the Control Panel and:
(2) Click the "Advanced" tab
(3) Click on "File Types" and select/deselect indexing services or Click
"Modify" to include/exclude folder indexing.
