how do I turn off auto recieve for e-mail? so I can remote check

When my computer is hybernating, how do I turn off the auto recieve so I can
check my e-mail from remote locations? Right now it automantically goes to my
computer unless I power it off.

When it hybernates it doesn't do a mailcheck. If it does; it is not
hybernating.
Note that for a POP3 account you can go into your account settings and
configure it to leave a copy on the server for X days.
