How do I troubleshoot outlook crashes?

I am running Outlook 2003 (11.8118.8112) SP2, which I believe is up to date,
and the program crashes every 30 minutes or so. Each time it asks me if I
wish to send an error report to Microsoft and I do so. I have looked through
these reports, which are mostly gibberish, and they give me no insight into
what is causing the crashes. I have checked for updates, I have uninstalled
and reinstalled the program, and nothing seems to help. When I ran Norton
Utilities they claimed that some .dll files were missing, such as msvcr80.dll
and msvcp80.dll. The computer still crashes, but now instead of hanging,
requiring a hard reboot, I can simply shut down and restart outlook.

I had been running outlook for years with no problem. Any ideas as to what
program may have caused this conflict and how to fix it more completely?

Have you tried running Detect and Repair? How big is your .pst file? Have you run scanpst.exe against it?

Good questions. I was not aware of either Detect and Repair or scanpst.exe. I
ran scanpst.exe, which found and corrected 70 errors. I also ran detect and
repair. Unfortunately, the crashes continue. Any other suggestions?

The .pst file is 431,065 kb, or I supose 431 mb.

As an additional piece of information: the header on the error message lists
googledesktop.dll as a modification to outlook. I suspect that this may be
causing the conflict. I will try uninstalling google desktop, which I don't
even use, and see if this fixes things.

Hi,

I am having the same problem, however, every time I load Outlook 2003, the
program just hangs. How do I do a detect and repair. My PST file is 256K.
