I know you can to got system properties
and see if it's XP Home or Pro with
Service Pack x installed, but I have
a machine here that I need to do
a repair install on. It is XP Home,
but it's not OEM. I don't know if it was
an upgrade or a full install.
Anyway to tell?
winver.exe pulled up this info:
Version 5.1(Build 2600.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519: Service Pack 2)

As near as I can tell Windows 2000 and up, you can check this key...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Updates\%OS%

For Windows NT, 2000, XP and later versions if Windows.

This key...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion
