-- Update history from the update page reflects a failed attempt of security
update KB-896-428 eventhough it shows installed on my add/repove programs
list - under all of the ms security patches and updates - also downloaded it
as an indivual download - rebooted - rechecked the update history - still
reflects there as failed -

Version is Windows XP Professional -

MICROSOFT WINDOWS XP PROFESIONAL – VER 5.1 –BUILD
2600.XPSP_SP2_GDR.050301-1519 : SERVICE PACK 2

How do you get the ms update site to reflect download history correctly - no
problems with all of the other downloads

Thanks much for any help !

You cant. The update history is a history of files you downloaded
through the update web site. If you download any of them seperately,
they will not show on the history list.

However, it will not show that you need to download the update.

Sounds like it failed to install from MU. Then you downloaded it and
installed it manually, which resulted in the entry in Add/Remove
programs. This will not, however, update the history list from MU.
That only covers updates installed from there. Since it shows in
Add/Remove programs, and I am assuming is not offered as an update from
MU anymore, don't worry about it - it's installed.
