I have a problem with the Windows XP Microsoft Windows Update online.
It always wants to install "NVIDIA display software update released on
October 06 2003", when I have the very latest 56.64 official NVIDIA WHQL
certified drivers (which are far more recent). How do I stop this update
appearing on the online update,
as I have found it won't install correctly anyway, and still appears after I
have downloaded it.

Any help is appreciated.

In Windows Update go to the link: Personalize Windows Update. Then check /
uncheck the ones you want to see or not see.

That didn't work I am afraid (after I did the scan and the Nvidia update
showed up):

Choose which categories and updates to display on Windows Update
No updates are available to personalize.

Yes, I downloaded this display update twice from the Update site and it
caused me no end of problems each time. There is no way I'll load the
bloody thing on my PC again - not in a million years.

I can't stop the Movie Maker update offering itself each time either,
even when I use the personalisation feature to stop it showing again. I
don't WANT the fecking update - either of 'em!

Personally I allways ignore winupdate drivers only use hardware manu.drivers
And dont have it set to autoupdate, other than critical

Don't click the driver update button! Windows driver update are a couple of months old, usually not the latest driver for a device. It's better using the manufactures webpage for updates.

I know they are out of date, it's just annoying that it appears there. I am
just wanting it gone because it's annoying. I use the Windows Update for
update windows not my drivers.
