How do i stop my files being shared

I am new to xp.Myself and my 2 daughters all have our
individual folders available to each other .We don't want
this.We have opened up seperate accounts but the folders
are still available to each other.When i click on
properties the Make Folder Private Box is shaded grey and
am unable to click on box...any ideas anyone ..cheers

1 - the private folders function only works if your drive is formatted in
the NTFS file system
2 - private folders only works on the my documents folder and its sub
folders.

To "make private" any other folder than the my documents folder, you have to
turn simple file sharing off and be formatted in ntfs.
 
Log into your account, go to Start / My Computer. Highlight Drive C,
right-click the highlight and choose Sharing & Security. Click the
Sharing tab in the Local Disk Properties dialog box. Click the Do Not
Share This Folder option. Click OK, close the My Computer window,
reboot. That should take care of your problem.
