How do I stop large emails being sent many times - Outlook 2007?

Large emails get hung in the Outbox in Outlook 2007 and repeatedly get sent
until I notice and delete the email manually from the Outbox. Needless to
say it irritates the recipient to get 30-40 copies of a 1 MB email. How do I
stop this from happening?

The usual culprit is scanning outgoing mail with an antivirus scanner. You
should also increase the server timeout value and the send/receive interval.

Thank you. I have increased the send / receive interval, and I have shut off
Norton Antivirus auto-protect (I hope MSN is scanning!). I am using Outlook
Connector with an MSN account. Is there a way to adjust Server Timeout?

Well, I adjusted the automatic send receive interval up to 60 minutes. I
shut off automatic antivirus scanning. It is still happening. The server
timeout value I am not certain is under my control for an http account set up
with Outlook Connector. If you have other suggestions I will welcome them.
One, of course, is to uninstall and reinstall Outlook, but I would like to
know if there remains a setting that I should worry about.

Forgive me - I don't think I successfully shut down automatic scanning of
outbound mail. I just found the correct feature in the antivirus software
and now I believe it is successfully shut down. I will repost again if the
problem persists, but for now assume it has been cleared up. I would still
like to learn about server timeout settings for an Outlook Connector account.

I know for certain I shut off virus scanning for outgoing email, and the
multiple copy sending is still very much happening. As a precaution I just
now shut off Internet Worm Protection and Protect against System timeouts.
Any addional information on how to get back to normal would be very much
appreciated.

With an HTTP account, I believe you're correct that you have no control over
the server timeout value. You've done all the usual things that address
your problem, except for a few other steps. One, many applications that
scan mail, in spite of having options to disable the scanning, continue to
scan unless you uninstall the program completely and reinstall without the
mail integration feature. You also haven't tried a new mail profile, as far
as I can tell from the earlier posts. Something is preventing Outlook from
detecting that the send/receive cycle has completed and so it's sending the
message again. I'm at a loss to suggest anything fuirther. It could also
be a flaw in Outlook 2007 or the Outlook Connector, since both are still
beta.

Thanks. You may wish to alert Microsoft to see if it is a flaw in Outlook
2007 or Outlook Connector. I will try an uninstall and reinstall, and if
that doesn't work, and uninstall and an install of Office 2003.

I can wish all I want, but I have no more access to developers at Microsoft
that you do. In fact, I have enev less. Since you're using Outlook 2007,
you have the "Send a Smile" tool you can use to report a problem. I'm not
using OL 2007 at all.
