How do I set my cursor back to default - it changed into bold dot

My cursor automatically changed into a bold period and I cannot change it.
I've tried the control panel; mouse, accessibility, keyboard, and have also
tried using the help feature. No luck.

Try setting the zoom percentage to 500% and back to 100%.
