How do I permanently change my regular footnotes to Bold?

I use many footnotes and my eyes are bad. I'd like to change the footnote
default to bold instead of regular type. Can anyone help? (I'm using Word
2007.)

Modify the Footnote Text style to be Bold. Or perhaps just increase the font
size?

If it is just a matter of viewing them more easily on screen, increase the
window zoom size. Otherwise Suzanne has shown how they are formatted.
