How do I set a Default Account for Replies (not just New Messages.

When I REPLY to a mail, Outlook automatically selects the Receiving Account
to send the Reply. I want to send all replies using my DEFAULT (different)
account. Must I mannually select the other account (to send) for each reply
mail, or is there a DEFAULT setting that will allow me to send
(automatically) my REPLIES via my Default Account (not just New Messages)?

you can't have outlook automatically use a different account. you either
need to choose it from accounts, or if you never want to send using the
other accounts, change the display name, email address and outgoing server
to use the same information as your default account.

Diane,

Thank you very much for this information. While it is not what I hoped to
find, I will at least know to stop looking (for now) for a solution to
automate this repettitive manual task.

FYI: I suppose that there perhaps is some purpose or concern in MOOL not
allowing replys on another account by default (even as an option). In my
case, I have had my personalized e-mail address for many years with a dial-up
server (texas.net) that nonetheless affords me a very appealing e-mail
address known to all of my contacts (business and personal). I recently
moved up to a Cable ISP for Internet access (including sending & receiving
mail) as such broadband service was not available via my old ISP. It is
important to me to receive messages on my old address but send all messages
more quickly and efficiently via my new ISP.

**ONE OTHER RELATED PROBLEM is that all REPLY RECEIPTS that I accept and
send are automatically sent via the old ISP account without allowing the even
the option to select manually my preferred default sending account and there
apparantly is no way to open and resend a receipt. Now I should note, this
is a problem that I was having with Office 2000; I just upgraded today to
2003 and have not yet seen if this still is the case. With MOOL 2000, I was
having to change my account settings and connect to my old dial-up each time
I wanted to send receipts from my outbox. Is this still going to be the case
in 2003 or am I able to at least specify the sending account for each receipt
that I accept/send.

Thanks again!

Then changing the email address and outgoing server to the same as used with
the new isp should work fine for you. It'll still collect the old address
but you'll send using the new one. If you want to keep using the texas.net
address, then try using authentication on the outgoing server -some isps
don't care what the from address is as long as you authenticate. If that
fails, you can fill in the reply to address with the texas.net one.

Reciepts should go out on the account they arrived on. You can make them use
a different smtp by changing the smtp used by the account they arrived on.

Thanks for keeping me from searching further for a fix, but honestly, this is
SO annoying. Please create a fix!
