How do I scroll in HTML messages in Outlook 2003?

Our System Administrator recently installed Outlook 2003 and from that point
on I have not been able to scroll within HTML email messages. It works fine
in Plain Text and Text messages. It also works in other Outlook 2003 screens
and in all the other applications / Web sites I use.

I have an IBM T30 ThinkPad with a TrackPoint and Touch Pad. This appears to
be occurring in all of the IBM notebooks within our company. Can anyone
suggest a remedy?

There is no special trick; hove with the mouse in the area you want to
scroll and use your scroll button. If anything; it's up to your mouse
driver.

We also have the same problem ... We installed Outlook 2003 on all of our
systems and now the IBM systems can not scroll within any HTML document.

I think the response from Robert Sparnaaij lacked a little compassion if you
don't mind me saying so. I think he has over simplified the problem and
really has no idea what he is talking about.

I think this is the typical software vender pointing the finder at the
hardware vender and around we go ... If I find anyone who is willing to help
in the problem I will let you know.

Thanks Jim, I do not think Robert took the time to read the problem
description or just misunderstand it. What floors me is how wide spread this
issue must be and the length of time Outlook 2003 has been out. I am going
to double check my IBM UltraNav drivers one more time to make sure I did not
miss anything.

No, I did not misunderstood it nor did I over simplified the problem; call
it experience with the program. Practically every scrolling issue I've dealt
with were traced back to either driver version issues or misconfiguration of
it.

Outlook doesn't hold special options to ignore scroll commands from certain
input devices. Hook up a Logitech or Microsoft mouse and install the latest
drivers and see if the scrolling works now. If it does; it's very likely an
issue with the driver of your pointing device (see if it also has options
when looking at the pointing device in Device Manager). If it still doesn't
scroll I'm more than willing to troubleshoot Outlook.

Problem solved. I finally got the time to try another approach at updating
the IBM / Lenovo drivers. I downloaded “Software Installer for Windows
2000/XP†7apm03wwx.exe and as was suggested by IBM downloaded “ThinkVantage
Rescue and Recovery†v3.01.0037.

After doing a full backup using the very easy to use and Free Rescue and
Recovery program, I installed the Software Installer program. It searched
for all updated drivers my system needed. In the many updates this produced
was an update to the ThinkPad UltraNav Pointing Device that took the driver
date to 5/15/05. Previous attempts to download an updated driver without the
Software Installer were not successful.

I can now “hove†with the ThinkPad TrackPoint and Touch Pad on HTML messages
within Outlook 2003.
