How do I retrieve compressed email files

I use Outlook Express for email. When I was working last week a pop-up come
up to say it was about to compress old email files to save space on the disk
and I hit OK. Little did I know I now cannot retrieve any of these emails.
I know where the dbx files are located but I am unable to open or view them.

I can I recover these emails back in to my Outlook Express or at the least
read these emails?

Any help is much appreciated

You have to ask in a newsgroup that supports Outlook Express, this is for
Outlook which is part of Office. OE is part of Internet Explorer. You didn't
say what version you use, so choose it from here:

Good luck! You'll have much better luck posting in a newsgroup that
specializes in Outlook Express.

it shouldn't delete existing messages when it compresses the files... but it
might have replaced the folders with new ones. http://www.insideoe.com will
have more information and show you how to find and reconnect the old
folders.
