how do i restore the default keyboard settings?

hi,
I have xp and, I dont know how I did it, but my left hand side shift key do
longer works in taking me to the upper characters. My right hand one still
works fine. For example, if i use my left hand shift key to get "@", I only
get a "2".
Can anybody tell me how to restore the keyboard defaults or fix this problem
please? help!

Try another keyboard since this looks like a hardware issue.
