How do I remove wireless net adapter that was never installed

I have a Linksys Wireless PC Card Ver4 in my Dell
Inspiron 8100 that is working without any problems.
Every time that I reboot the system I get a popup about a
Linksys Wireless USB Compact Network adapter that cannot
be found and if the error message continues to appear to
reinstall the device. I have never installed this device
on this system. Where is the system finding the
information that is causing the POPUP to appear everytime
I reboot this system. It even appears when I have the
Linksys Wireless PC Card removed from the system.

Try starting in safe mode. Find the mystery device in the device manager
and remove it.

I have resolved the problem. I found that this was only
happening for one user. I also have Norton Anti-Virus
2003 Professional installed. When I deleted instances of
the WPC11 NC Card Configuration Wizard It moved this
application to the Norton Protected Recycle Bin. I
decided to use the Windows system configuration Tool and
sellected the startup tab and it showed this item
starting from the C:\Recycler directory in the norton
protected section of the recycle bin. I unchecked this
to keep it from starting and it no longer is popping up
when I log on. I also deleted all instances of this from
the Protected Recycle bin. I no longer have the problem.
Thanks to those who did respond. But this device never
did show up in the device manager as it was never
installed on this computer.
