how do I receive emails into a new profile?

In Outlook 2003, I was advised to create a new profile to get rid of a set
of superfluous, undeletable personal folders. I did this and then used
import/expert to carry over all my data in the old folders in the old
profile to my new profile.

However, email is not being received into my new profile (the send/receive
button isn't even displayed). I can't find out how to make email active in
the new profile. (It's still active in the old profile).

Could someone advise me?

Dumb question, but have you added your mail accounts to the new profile? Did
they test OK?
