Multiple Profiles and Duplicate Messages

I use two profiles - one for home and one for work as I have different SMTP
servers in each place. The POP server is the same in both profiles. I also
have a mobile phone which I use to receive emails. In order to ensure I get
all emails on the mobile device, I have configured both profiles to leave a
copy of messages on the server. However, whenever I switch profiles, this
results in receiving duplicate messages.

Since I have different ISP's at home and at work, I have to use different
profiles or my send fails. I have to leave a copy of the message on the
server in order to ensure I get it on the mobile. I have looked at some of
the "Duplicate Remover" add-ons, but they all seem to require a manual
process to remove the duplicates (ie, they don't prevent them from coming
into the inbox). Has anyone else encountered this and is there any solution?

Thanks!

You can do what you wish with one profile and two accounts.

Since you're using the same POP server for both accounts, set one account up
to do all the receiving and the other for send-only.

I'm not sure I understand how to do this. I tried to create a single profile
that includes a work account that sends on smtp.work and a home account that
sends on smtp.home but when I open using that profile at home I get a send
error when it tries to send on smtp.work.

How do I designate which account to use for sending within that profile?

Thanks for your help!

PS: sorry about posting my initial msg multiple times - I kept getting an
error saying it wasn't received, though maybe it helps make the point about
how annoying duplicate messages are!

With the Accounts button.

Use a real newsreader like Outlook Express, Windows Live Mial, Thunderbird,
Forte Agent, or Xnews and you won't have the problems the web interface
encounters.
