how do i put a bar down the page?

I know you click the bar tab then what do I click?
I'v did it before, but I forgot how.
 
In Word 2002 and 2003, you can insert bar tabs from the ruler; previous
versions require the Tabs dialog. Inserting the "tab stop" is all that's
required; the bar is automatic.
